WASHOE COUNTY & ACTION ITEM! ALERT: #199 Dear Incline Village & Crystal Bay Property Taxpayers, Washoe County has issued this press release, and will be placing an ad in the Reno Gazette Journal. I know some of you were reluctant to withdraw your Petitions until the ruling that we received for the reduction of our land values of 15% in addition to the 10% already noticed for the 2009-2010 tax year was verified. Following is the Press Release. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Carter, Kathy WASHOE COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION APPROVES ASSESSOR’S RECOMMENDATION TO APPLY ADDITIONAL 15% REDUCTION TO TAXABLE LAND VALUES IN WASHOE COUNTY Reno, Nevada. January 28, 2009. On January 26, 2009 the Washoe County Board of Equalization approved the Assessor’s recommendation of a 15% reduction to all taxable land values established on the 2009/10 property tax roll, as published by the Assessor, with the exception of those properties whose values are otherwise set by statute or regulation. As of today, all land values have been adjusted in the Assessor’s database and can be searched on the County’s website through the Real Property Assessment Data page, www.washoecounty.us/assessor/cama/. The webpage can be searched by entering the Assessor Parcel Number (APN), or by the property address. The new value is identified as the Taxable Land Value and can also be seen on the Taxable Value History page, identified as 2009 BC15. Taxpayers can visit this website to see their adjusted values, or call the Assessor’s Office at 328-2233 for this information. This approved reduction is a result of continued declines in the Washoe County real estate market. Based on third and fourth quarter 2008 real estate sales, it is apparent that Washoe County is experiencing a continued decline in sale prices warranting reductions in taxable land values across the county.
