THE PLOT THICKENS! ALERT: #162 Dear Incline Village & Crystal Bay Property Tax Protesters, We know that many of you have voiced concerns about exactly what you should be preparing for the appeal of the assessed value of your property. Hopefully, this Alert will give you guidance as to what to do next. Hearings are now being scheduled for appearances by Petitioners to present their appeals before the Washoe County Board of Equalization. If you have successfully filed a Petition for Review prior to the January 15th deadline, and have NOT filed a Withdrawal Petition, you should soon be receiving your Notice of Hearing, at least 10 days before the designated date. Please click on www.nevadapropertytaxrevolt.org/08/Letter-to-CBOE-2008-09.pdf to access the letter that you should immediately sign and mail to the Office of the Washoe County Clerk if your Petition for Review has been filed and accepted by the County. Send all documentation to:
The Village League has no way of knowing when your hearings will be scheduled or which of you will be able or unable to attend. The letter referenced above will assure you that your concerns about your property assessment will become part of your “record” for further appeal if necessary. If you are aggrieved by the decision of the Washoe County Board of Equalization and wish to appeal your case further to the State Board of Equalization, there MUST be a record of the points that you presented before the County Board of Equalization. You do not have to attend the hearing in order for your “record” to be included in your file. Any documents that you may have received from the County Assessor, or any letters that you may have written, asking for information or expressing your concerns about the amount of your assessment or any errors made in calculating your values that you wished to have addressed, will be included in your hearing’s documentation. Please remember to keep copies of everything that you include in your communication(s), as well as the date of your mailing(s). Attorney Fulstone has filed 6 “Class” Petitions to the Washoe County Board of Equalization which include all properties in the Incline Village and Crystal Bay area. Those Petitions strictly address the legal aspects of appraisal techniques used by the Assessor that are being challenged by the taxpayers. Keep watching your emails. There will be more Alerts coming your way!! Sincerely, Maryanne Ingemanson, President ------------------------------------ Village League to Save Incline Assets Board Members:
