Upcoming IVGID Meeting on Beach Access

ALERT: #131
DATE: April 15, 2007
FROM: Village League to Save Incline Assets

Dear Friends,

As one of the first efforts undertaken by the Village League to Save Incline Assets Inc. was to do battle to keep our beaches private, I felt that it was appropriate to share with you a letter written by on one of our member, whose thoughts that I happen to share. Please make your thoughts known to the IVGID Trusties and especially Mgr. Bill Horn.

Member Carole Anderson recently expressed the following opinion on the IVGID beach access issue. I am pleased to share her thoughts with you and to urge members to attend the upcoming town meeting scheduled for April 16 at the Chateau. Your opinions are solicited by IVGID any time from 7:00AM to 8:00PM. IVGID trustees will be functioning as a tag team so there will always be an official there to hear your thoughts on the subject.

Sincerely,

Maryanne Ingemanson

"It is beyond me how IVGID could open a discussion on beach access.

Either our beaches are private or they are open to all. There is no legal means to "extend to a few".

According to several independent appraisers public opening of the beaches would reduce the value of every parcel in Incline by $50,000. That's a loss of $350,000,000 -- image the lawsuits that will follow any IVGID trustees that allows this to happen.

With the developers now holding ownership of the Biltmore site and more and planning is underway for a Ritz Residence to take form on this Crystal Bay property, any future legal challenge will become more costly and prolonged as their "deep pockets" are pitted once again against our community coffers.

As was the case when Mr Bluth attempted to force us to public beaches, Washoe County and TRPA are on the side of our opponents: make no mistake, Washoe County and TRPA want our beaches to be public.

The IVGID board should not need "public comment" to do the right thing here: quit claim the title of the beach land to each of the 7,000 +/- holders of the easement for beach use. Then as trustees, vote IVGID as the manager of the property. The discussion and all future challenges would be over. This is your duty as "trustees" of the property owners and voters of Incline Village.
