I just received the following email from one of our members:

I received a phone call and then an email as follows:

From: LMitchell@washoecounty.us

Dear Mr & Mrs. Xxxx:

This email message will confirm my phone conversation with Mrs. Xxxx this morning. We have received your payment of the fourth installment real estate taxes associated with APN xxx-xxx-xx, and I will hold your check rather than depositing it until we get the adjustments made to the current tax bills.

Preliminary calculations indicate that you will receive a refund of some of the taxes you have already paid WITHOUT this check you have just sent. That being the case, I don't want to take more money from you only to turn around and send it back.

I will keep you informed by email of the progress we make here and encourage you to contact me as you wish. Good luck to you and have a nice trip.

I would STRONGLY suggest that you also call the Washoe County Treasurer’s office and ask if this same advice would apply to you. DO THIS IMMEDIATELY. Phone 775 328 2550

Your last property tax payment for 2006 is due on March 5, 2007. You won't want to pay it if you don’t have to. Let’s try to keep our money in our own pockets. I know that I will!!
