We Won!
![]() ALERT: #114 Dear Incline Village & Crystal Bay Property Owners, At last! All of our patience and hard work came to fruition yesterday. The unanimous decision issued by the Nevada Supreme Court verified everything that we thought about the illegality of appraisal methods previously used by the Washoe County Assessor. After four years of hearings and battles, the Supreme Court Decision is all that we had hoped for and more. Attorneys Norman Azevedo and Suellen Fulstone did a superb job of presenting our defense of Judge Maddox’ decision to the Supreme Court. The seventeen Plaintiffs in that original case truly “paved the way” for all 9000 parcel owners in the Incline Village and Crystal Bay areas to benefit by their perseverance and dedication in pursuing the first phase of this tax battle to achieve this INCREDIBLE result. WHAT HAPPENS NOW? Attorneys and Board members of the Village League are, as we speak, poring over every word of the Order. The Supreme Court’s decision will directly affect all of the other hearings and lawsuits involving your property tax issues. Actions must be taken to insure that our future property tax assessments are fair and legal. The League will soon be meeting with the newly elected Washoe County Assessor, Josh Wilson. Hopefully, we can come to agreement on the methods needed to implement proper future appraisals. HOW WILL WE KNOW WHAT TO DO? We will be sending Alerts as quickly as the process of resolving these matters unfolds. Watch for your email instructions. There are lots of details involving refunds, over-paid taxes and other items that will require your attention. Until these concerns are completely resolved we will have to pay our attorneys and other professionals to prepare documents, attend hearings and address the court actions that remain outstanding. DONATIONS? We still need funds to bring finality to all that we have won. Help us if you can by sending a donation. As you are probably aware, the League is an approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so all contributions are tax deductible. Checks should be made to:
How thrilling to be able to share this extraordinary news of VICTORY with you. Our patience has been rewarded and we truly have been given a reason to celebrate a Happy New Year!!!
