Important Reminder !!!! ALERT: #100 Dear Fellow Taxpayers, Your calendar should indicate that you will be joining us in Carson City on June 15, 2006. Our Supreme Court hearing will be at 11:30 A.M. that day, and this is an occasion that you do not want to miss. Not only the eyes of Nevada are focused on this case; attorneys, accountants and elected officials all over the country are waiting to see what the Nevada Supreme Court will decide. This is an historical event. Never in the history of the entire state of Nevada has there been a case of this magnitude with such far reaching ramifications for all taxpayers. It started with a grass-roots effort by a small group of people of good-will, who were trying to achieve what the Nevada Constitution promises. Uniform and equal taxation. Click here to read an excellent article in BusinessNevada about “state tax officials who think that they are above the law”, the Incline Village lawsuit and Judge Maddox’ decision. After four years of appeals to the County Board of Equalization, and the State Board of Equalization , uncountable hearings, changes to the law by the Legislature, adoption by the Nevada Tax Commission of new standards for the appraisal of property by county assessors, and legal battles too numerous to count, we have finally arrived!!! The “buck does stop here”, at the Supreme Court, and the Justices are all on high alert. We want them to see and recognize your faces, and realize that the original small group has now grown into a very focused and very concerned large group. WHERE DO WE GO? The Supreme Court is located in Carson City in the Capitol Mall (Park) Complex. Entry to the Supreme Court Building is either from Stewart Street or from Hiway 395 through the Park. There is a Parking lot on Fifth Street between Stewart and Hiway 395, and a Public Parking garage on Stewart Street between Fifth and Musser Street. I suggest that you plan to arrive at the Supreme Court by 11:00 A.M. as quite a number of people are expected to attend. Business attire is acceptable and Court decorum is observed. Our attorneys are working feverishly, analyzing all of the documentation being produced by our opposition and perfecting their own presentations. Hundreds of hours of work will culminate in the June 15, 2006 oral arguments that will take place before the Nevada Supreme Court. If you are unable to join us, please keep us in your thoughts.
